Fifteen things every HVAC contractor has lived through, written down so you can send them to someone who will understand. Nobody outside this trade finds these funny, which is exactly the point.
The one that stops being funny
Look back at the list. Two of them are jokes about the business, not the work: the customer who picks whoever answered the phone, and the owner doing payroll at 11 p.m. wondering where the profit went.
Both have the same cause. When lead flow is unpredictable, everything downstream gets harder — you take the bad jobs, you discount to fill Tuesday, you miss calls during peak week because there is nobody free to answer, and you carry the whole thing on your own back after hours.
Contractors who fix that are usually not working harder. They own their local search results, so the calls arrive whether or not they bought them: the map pack, the reviews, the website that ranks for “AC repair” in their town, the customer database they can reactivate in a slow week. Peak season stops being a scramble and shoulder season stops being frightening.
Then the only memes left on the list are about the attic, the dog and the foil tape — and those, honestly, are never getting fixed.
