This episode of the podcast is the audio from a webinar that Josh presented outlining the 2018 plumber SEO and HVAC SEO formula that he prescribes for and applies to all of his clients. This is not a sales pitch, it is a very clear and action-oriented webinar that shows you exactly what to do to enable your service provider website to rank high in Google.
It’s vital to apply good plumber SEO and HVAC SEO to get on the first page
There are many people these days who feel that the advent of Google Home Services and Google Ads make SEO irrelevant for Plumbing and HVAC contractors. But is that true? Josh makes the case for why it is not at all true by showing that 71% of clicks that are happening when a person searches for plumbing or HVAC services are going to the website links below the advertisements rather than to the advertisements. That means ranking on page one in Google still matters. On top of that, 67% of the clicks go to the top 5 search results. That means you not only have to rank on page one, you also have to be in the top 5 results. This episode of the podcast tells you exactly how to make it happen.
3 big changes to Google’s algorithm that impact Plumbing SEO and HVAC SEO
For 2018 there are three primary changes that have happened in the Google algorithms that impact Plumbing and HVAC businesses. The first has to do with duplicate content. In the past, many businesses copied the text from one page and pasted it into another when the services they offered in one city where identical to the services they offered in another. While that used to work, it doesn't work anymore. Google does not rank sites high when they have duplicate content such as that. The second issue has to do with low-quality links that point to your website. In this episode, Josh highlights what a low-quality link is and how to avoid them. Finally, no longer can you use a P.O. box or residential address when trying to get listed on Google Maps. You must have an actual business address in order for Google Maps to place your business on the map or allow it to rank high in search results. Find out how to correct all of these problems that likely exist on your website, on this episode.
Spend time understanding the best keywords for your services in your area
One of the things that has always been a part of good search engine optimization is the proper use of keywords. While keywords are still important, there are nuances to the application of keywords that plumbing and HVAC contractors need to understand. First, as you might expect, you need to know which keywords relating to your industry are searched for the most. You also need to think through the higher transaction value keywords that will bring greater return to your company than others. But keep in mind as well that your market and location matter. The keywords searched most commonly relating to plumbers in Dallas may not be the same keywords searched most commonly in Denver. Listen to understand more about the proper application of keywords to your plumbing and HVAC SEO efforts, on this episode.
The right plumbing or HVAC website structure can make the difference for SEO
Gone are the days of one-page websites that rank high in Google's search listings. Sites that Google considers to be of good quality are sites that have multiple pages, each one optimized for a specific keyword or keyword phrase. That means Plumbing and HVAC SEO efforts require individual pages for different service areas that contain unique content, and that each of the services provided in those areas has its own unique page as well. It's a lot more work, but it provides an incredible benefit to the company once it is completed. Find out how to structure your plumbing or HVAC website to make an incredibly profitable difference for search engine optimization, on this episode.
