Master the New SEO Formula—The 3 Steps to Follow

One of the most effective ways to attract more leads to your home service business is through SEO. And the good news? The new, more effective formula only has three steps for you to follow.

It’s a well-known fact that using search engine optimization (SEO) is a crucial strategy for businesses. This also applies to home service businesses. After all, SEO is effective in enhancing online presence and attracting valuable clients.

But admittedly, mastering SEO can be a daunting task. Especially with the constant changes in the algorithms of search engines.

In this article, you’ll learn the three secret steps that comprise the new SEO formula. By mastering it, you’ll allow your Plumbing & HVAC company to achieve higher rankings in search engine results. And ultimately, you’ll attract more clients.

You’ll also discover the benefits of using SEO compared to paid ads and the process of optimizing your website and off-site elements. This way, you can ensure your plumbing and HVAC business’s increased visibility online and achieve success.

The New SEO Formula

Recent changes in the algorithms of search engines brought significant shifts to the online landscape. One notable development is the increasing prominence of AI tools like ChatGPT. It’s revolutionizing how search engines understand and interpret user queries.

With that, you need to stay updated on how to successfully make your website rank higher on search engines. And this is where the new SEO formula comes in.

This is a formula you need to implement on your home service business website and content to rank higher. This, then, will allow you to dominate your local market.

The new SEO formula works this way:

Step #1. Figure Out the Most Important Keywords

When selecting keywords, consider these two vital factors:

  • Search Volume – This refers to the number of people searching for a particular keyword.

Now, it may be tempting to choose keywords based on personal preferences or assumptions. But it is crucial to prioritize keywords with substantial search volumes. Focusing on keywords with low or no search volume may lead to wasted efforts and poor outcomes.

  • Search Intent – Users searching for specific keywords can either have commercial intent or are simply seeking information.

You must assess the purpose of your audience when searching for particular keywords. This way, you can leverage the keywords with a higher probability of leading to booked jobs more than others.

Typically, potential customers are actively looking to solve a problem or make a purchase. To get their attention, you must prioritize keywords with high search volume and strong commercial intent.

So, utilize tools to gain insights into keyword search volumes and trends in your market. Among the tools you can use include Google Keyword Planner, WordStream, SpyFu, and Google Ads.

These tools provide valuable data that’ll help you understand what your target customers type into search engines. And with that, you’ll know which keywords to include in your content so your plumbing and HVAC business’s website will appear in front of them.

Step #2. Use Keywords for Website Content

Once you know which keywords to use, you need to create a home service business website that targets those keywords with content.

One effective way is to create dedicated pages for each of your main services. For example, you can have one page each for:

  • Plumbing
  • Drain cleaning
  • Water heater installation
  • Water heater repair
  • Trenchless sewer replacement
  • AC installation
  • AC repair

Additionally, make sure to optimize for location-specific keywords. Create pages for the specific suburbs and towns you serve.

For instance, if your main market is Miami, target keywords such as "Miami plumber" and "Miami drain cleaning." Don’t forget to also create pages for nearby areas, like Palmetto Bay, Kendall, and Pinecrest.

Having pages for each service and location is just the first part of this step. The content on each of these pages must be unique. More importantly, they must answer the questions and address the needs of your potential customers.

Also, avoid duplicating content across multiple pages, as search engines may see them as spam and negatively impact your site’s rank. If necessary, consider revisiting and re-engineering your content. This is to ensure uniqueness and proper indexing of search engines.

Step #3. Improve User Experience

To ensure your website ranks well, it is also essential to optimize for user experience. This involves making your website easy to navigate, have quick loading times, and contain relevant and valuable content.

So, take the time to optimize your plumbing and HVAC business website's design and layout. Your goal is to make it visually appealing and user-friendly.

One aspect to this is implementing clear and compelling calls-to-action. Your website must effortlessly guide visitors toward desired actions, such as contacting your home service company or requesting a quote.

By enhancing user satisfaction and engagement, your visitors are more likely to stay on your website. They’ll explore multiple pages, see other services you offer, and become more likely to convert.

Site speed is another critical factor in SEO. Google and other search engines prioritize websites that load quickly on both desktop and mobile devices. Websites that take forever to load have higher bounce rates, making them rank lower.

To assess your website's speed, use tools like Google's GTmetrix. It helps you determine load times and also provides recommendations for improving your site’s loading speed.

Off-Site Elements to Consider

While on-site optimization is crucial for SEO, off-site elements also play a significant role in determining your website's success in search rankings. These are key to building trust with your audience and establishing your authority and expertise beyond your website.

One important aspect of off-page SEO is acquiring high-quality backlinks from reputable sources. These backlinks act as references from other websites, signaling to search engines that your website is trustworthy and authoritative.

You can get backlinks through guest blogging, by reaching out to relevant industry-specific websites, and by establishing a strong social media presence.

In addition to backlinks, another off-site element to consider is the acquisition of citations. This involves your business being listed on web directories, local directories, and industry-specific sites.

To increase citations, seek out various online directories, such as Hotfrog and Yelp. Ensure your business is listed and referenced in them.

Keep in mind that citations may not always strongly establish your authority. But they contribute to the positive impressions you get from your audience online. Each citation you acquire also helps you show your relevance, which is crucial in lead generation.

Harness the Power of On-Page and Off-Page SEO

Mastering the new SEO formula can unlock tremendous opportunities for your plumbing and HVAC company. By implementing the three secret steps discussed in detail in this article, you can significantly improve your website's visibility and attract more clients.

Remember that both on-site and off-site elements are crucial to make the most out of SEO. When you combine these strategies, you can position your business for long-term success in the digital landscape.
