So your website is up and runnning, you've claimed your Google Places page, did all your on page optimization and you're starting to show up for some of the basic keyword searches in Google.

There are still a lot more things for you to do on a monthly basis but today lets discuss article marketing and blogging. Publishing articles to your blog on a monthly basis should be planned at the begining of each month. The cotent of the articles should be developed by the keywords you want to rank better for, and the long tail keywords people are using to find your site.
The first thing you need to do is pull a Google analytics report and scan through the top keywords potential customers are using to find you. At that point simply go back to Google and search the term, if you're not on the first page, it's a good idea to develop your article around that search term. As an example if the search term is "Tankless Water Heaters in Sunrise" Then write an article like "Installing A Tankless Water Heater In Your Sunrise Home". That's your title and then in the text its good practice to bold and link the term "Tankless Water Heaters Sunrise" to your Tankless Water Heaters page on your website.
Articles serve several purposes:
- Articles are fresh content for your website.
- Articles published on article sites serve as links back to your site from the by line.
- Articles are educational for potential customers searching for information.
- Articles can get your site ranked for specific long tail keyword searches.
So how often should you publish articles to your blog?
As much as once a day to the bare minimum of once per week, a good start would be to try and push out a few per week and then cut back from there. The biggest issue I see with article marketing is that you start all gung-ho and don't see quick results and then stop.
As with any type of Internet marketing, you have to be in it for the long haul.
