1. Make Sure You Have a Website

Many plumbing and HVAC businesses redirect their ads to a Facebook page. If you’re doing this, you’re missing out on a massive growth opportunity.
How so?
It’s because redirecting to Facebook doesn’t let you optimize for the keywords that your customers use. As a result, you can’t control the experience that your customer has before they reach out to you.
In this day and age, every business should have a website that is optimized for conversions. So if you still haven’t checked this box, now would be a good time to do it. 
A Facebook page is not enough.

2. Get Your Keywords Right

Keywords are the heart and soul of on-page SEO. But simply throwing keywords around won’t do much. Instead, you need to know exactly where your keywords should go.
There are three main parts of your website’s pages where you should place your main keyword:

  • Title tag
  • H1 tag
  • On-page content

All of these should have the same root keyword. 
For instance, we recently helped a plumbing company in Mason, Ohio, rank first on Google for “Mason plumber” by doing so. And you can do the same, too. Keep in mind that the main keyword you want to rank for will depend on your services and area.
On top of the main keyword, you should also focus on semantic keywords. In our client’s example, these included keywords like “Mason drain cleaning services” and “Mason water heater repair.”
You should also have separate pages for all services that you offer. And then, put the right keywords in the title tag, H1, and your content. 
If you place your keywords correctly, you should see a huge jump in search results.

3. Be Authentic

What kind of photos and videos do you have on your website? Do you use stock images of a guy with a wrench and a smiling family, like what plenty of plumbers do?
You might think that there’s nothing wrong with this, as those images can surely look nice. But here’s the thing:
People want to do business with real people! 
Stock photography happens to be the exact opposite.
To have a website that converts, you must be authentic. At the very least, you should have photos of your actual team on the website. Doing so lets people connect with you more easily, which can do wonders for conversions.
Now, photos are only the first step. You also want to leverage multimedia and have videos of your team, processes, and happy clients. Show people what to expect when working with you and position yourself as an expert.

4. Answer Customer Questions

You obviously want your website to look clean and professional. But more importantly, you don’t want it to be dry and focus too much on the technicalities.
When someone lands on your website, they’ll have a few questions before deciding whether to work with you. These questions include:

  • Will this company be there when I need them and show up on time?
  • Will they be fair with their pricing?
  • Will they truly solve my problem?

You shouldn’t leave your customer to wonder about these questions. So, why not answer them immediately? Your website should have all the information necessary to put their minds at ease straight away.
This will make a customer much more confident about working with you. If you speak to their needs and leave no room for doubt, you’ll have no trouble landing them as a client.

5. Build Authority to Rank High in Search

As mentioned, keywords are critical for solid SEO. But long gone are the days when they were enough to give you high rankings.
Search engines don’t want to see a bunch of keywords crammed into a page or post. In fact, they might even punish you if you overdo it.
For this reason, you must build authority if you want to rank high. Other than keywords, you need quality links and the sort of authority content that search engines will recognize as relevant.
So, do you have someone getting those authority links or updating your blog regularly? If not, this is a growth opportunity that you’ll want to take full advantage of. 
Keep building authority and search engines will reward you with high rankings.
